RANDALL “RANDY” DAVID WHORTON

Randall “Randy” David Whorton, 72, of Roscoe passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021, in Ballinger, TX after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Randy was born on May 8,1949 in Sweetwater, TX to the late R.H. “Billy” Whorton Jr. and Thelma L. (Carter). He was a graduate of Roscoe High School. Randy was a member of the Texas A&M Corp of Cadets graduating class of 1971. Randy married Modena “Dena” Rankin on August 15, 1970. Randy was a farmer by profession through most of his life. In later years, he worked in various capacities at the Texas Boll Weevil Eradication Foundation retiring in the Abilene office in charge of assessments. Survivors: include his loving wife of 51 years, Dena of Roscoe; two sons: Josh Whorton of Roscoe; Billy Whorton of Dillion, Co; one daughter Bonnie Klauzer and husband Jason of Germany, and grandchildren Alyson Whorton-Jones, Samuel Jones, David Whorton, and Wyatt Whorton. He is survived by his sister Mary Whorton Kinsey, and husband Albert of Arp, TX. Randy is also survived by one brother-in law Gene Rankin and wife Carolyn, of Snyder, as well as and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Richard Wayne Whorton November 12, 1956; Rodney Jay Whorton December 22, 2019; Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 3, 2021 at Roscoe Cemetery with Rev. David Draper officiating. Interment will follow at Roscoe Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
