HR derby, coed softball slated

The Sweetwater police and fire departments will present a “Strike Out Child Abuse” home run derby and coed softball tournament on Friday and Saturday, June 10-11 at Newman Park.

The proceeds will benefit the West Texas Children’s Advocacy Center.

The home run derby for ages 10-18 will be held on Friday, June 10 starting at 6 p.m. with a $20 entry fee.

June 11 will begin at 8 a.m. with a police vs. fire department exhibition game followed by the coed tournament. The cost is $250 per team consisting of five males and five females with a three-game guarantee. First and second place teams will win prizes.
