S’water summer workout schedule for June and July
All Sweetwater athletes who are entering grades 7-12 next year will be expected to maintain a certain level of fitness through the summer months. Strength and conditioning training provides a smooth transition into fall workouts along with injury prevention. The Sweetwater coaching staff will be present to instruct these athletes.
During most of the weeks through July, workouts will be Monday through Thursday at the following times:
8-8:45 — Boys high
school lifting
8:45-9:15 — Boys high school and middle school conditioning
9-10:30 — Girls lifting followed by conditioning and skills training 9:30-10:30 — Boys skills training in football, basketball and baseball
10:30-11:15 — Boys middle school lifting
There may be situations where these times need to be adjusted.
Holidays (no lifting) will be May 30 and July 4 and an open weight room will be on May 23-26, July 18-19 and July 25-28.
All workouts at this time will take place in the high school weight room, which is located at the field house on the north end of the Mustang Bowl.
Athletic director Russell Lucas said, “If we expect to be champions during the season, we must be champions in the offseason. Hard work always pays off.”
