SNCHD is still administering Covid-19 Vaccine

The Sweetwater-Nolan County Health Department (SNCHD) is currently out of Covid vaccine. If you have questions about Covid or Covid vaccines, please call us at 325-235-5463.

We are currently administering the flu vaccine from 8-11:30 and 1-4:30 on a walkin basis to children under 18 years of age. We do not accept private insurance for flu vaccines. The cost of a vaccine if you are privately insured is $25.00. We are out of adult flu vaccine.

The Health Department will be closed Monday, June 19th in honor of Juneteenth.

ImmTrac is a free service provided to you by the Texas Department of Health. This service plays an important role in protecting your child from many dangerous diseases. ImmTrac works by allowing immunization providers across Texas to record and store the information necessary to correctly identify your child and to track his or her immunization status. Participation in ImmTrac is voluntary...

To have your vaccines put into the database, talk to our ImmTrac Specialist. This service is available for adults, also.

The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is a national network of volunteers, organized locally through the health department to improve the health and safety of their communities. The MRC network comprises approximately 185,000 volunteers in roughly 800 community-based units located throughout the United States and its territories. MRC volunteers include medical and public health professionals, as well as other community members without healthcare backgrounds. MRC units engage these volunteers to strengthen public health, improve emergency response capabilities, and build community resiliency. They prepare for and respond to natural disasters, such as wildfires, hurricanes, tornados, blizzards, and floods, as well as other emergencies affecting public health, such as disease outbreaks. Family Planning services available through Sweetwater-Nolan County Health Department include pap smears, breasts exams, pregnancy testing, and methods of birth control: pills, depo provera (the shot), condoms, spermicides, IUDs (intrauterine device), Nuva Ring, Nexplanon (hormonal implant) and testing/ treatment for STIs. Clients must be able to still have children. Clients must be uninsured (without private health insurance); we do accept Medicaid and the Healthy Texas Women’s Program. For adolescents/ minors. Parental consent is required for Family Planning services. Hours are Monday thru Thursday 8:30 to 11:30 and 1:00 to 4:30. Please call ahead for an appointment 325-235-2869.

The health department is screening, testing, and treating clients for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. HIV testing is available with clients referred elsewhere for treatment, if needed. Testing will be provided upon request, if possible, otherwise an appointment will be scheduled. To obtain an appointment please call 325235-5463 Monday-Thursday from 8:30-11:30 and 1-4:30.

Our water lab is NELAC accredited by TCEQ. The lab performs presence/absence of bacteria in water drinking tests for public water systems or individual wells. Sample bottles are provided by lab and can be picked up at the health department and delivered Monday and Tuesday from 8-12 or 1-3:30 and Wednesdays from 8-12 only. Cost is $25.
